I am not sure if this question has been answered before, and if it was sorry for the repeat. I use Autodesk Land Desktop and I move objects around quite a bit. Nothing annoys me more than when the object I am moving jumps an inch down and to the left the first time i move the object. So then I have to select it and move it to where I really want it. Why does it do this and is there any way to fix it? Thanks!

Are your osnaps or sanp on? Those can cause it to go to snap positions or "grab" an object as a position. Make sure they are off unless you want them on. F3 OSNAP, F9 SNAP

Under Tools, Options User Preferences, Priority for Coordinate Data Entry:

You've probably got "Running Object Snap" selected. This specifies that running object snaps override coordinate entry at all times. Or under the OSNAPCOORD command, 0 is selected.

Select "Keyboard Entry " instead. This specifies that coordinate entry overrides running object snaps at all times. You can also select this option by setting OSNAPCOORD to 1.

Thanks for the fast response. I did already have keyboard entry selected and I tried with snap off and it still happened. I am sorry I forgot to mention that I am moving around Text. I am not sure if that makes things different. The "jump" happens when I drop the text (after draging it). Another note: I will usually select more than one line at a time. The lines are centered and when I drop them to the location that I want they jump down and to the left as well as line up to tthe left side. Ex:
Before:
text
text text text
text text
After:
text
text text text
text text

Anyway, I am sorry if "text" is not considered and "object". I realize now that the title may have been a bit misleading. I'm a noob at this still. Thanks for all your help!!

I'm not sure if OSNAP is the issue as much as GRID being ON. Try making GRID off.

Grid was never on i'm afraid. Ill mess ariund with the setting a bit mroe and let you know what i find. Thanks for the input.

When you say "move". Do you mean like typing in MOVE from the command line, selecting the text, selecting a basepoint and then selecting a new location within the same drawing? Also, is it actually text or text/attributes within a block?

If I move the text with the base point, this problem doesnt happen. What I am doing is just clicking on the text and dragging it to a different location. I suppose I could use the base point method but I dont like having to deselect thhe text after i move it. when I just drag and drop it deselects on its own. when I select teh text and click properties it says it is just text. Sorry if I am being unclear, I am not a l33t autocad user yet.
