MP35N: Relationship between strength and hardness

Does MP35N exhibit a reasonably good relationship between hardness and tensile strength? If so can anyone point me in the direction of a good graph?

How much variation on the hardness can be expected for each case in the table depending on the heat lot and batches? I haven't seen any reference to hardness values in MIL-HDBK-5 but only yield and tensile strength. I remember a bolt manufactured by SPS that we had difficulty to drill and we have found the hardness to be close to 60RC.

I would not want to provide you with an uninformed response or guess. I think your question would be better answered by a Carpenter technical representative. I met one of them some time ago and he was very knowledgeable of their product lines.

If you want my personnel opinion, based on the tabulated data shown between the two tables I believe this material would have a narrow spread in hardness, unlike the standard precipitation hardening stainless steels.

As this alloy gets stronger the hardness stops increasing as much. It can be a little deceiving.
