Dear Sirs,

I have a problem with the contact definition of Ansys. I try to make a MPC contact between two sheets meshed with Shell 63 Elements. There is currently in my model, no gab between both sheets but the calculation reports me the following error message:
"MPC approach only supports certain bonded/no separation contact options. For general contact switch to other contact algorithm".

I don't know if i have a problem in my modeling or in the contact parameter.

Please find enclose my log file.

Could you please help me?

I'm fairly new to ANSYS too, but from what I've experienced so far, in ANSYS:WorkBench the MPC is the method on which the analysis formulation for the contact is based on while the type to use only No Seperation / Bonded types. Therefore, the contact type should be no seperation / bonded only to be able to use MPC.

Did you define the contact type?

But maybe I'm wrong.
I'm sure someone else has a better understanding
and could provide a greater insight.

Firstly, are you using Ansys Mechanical (formerly Workbench), or Ansys Mechanical APDL (formerly Classic)? The approaches will be different.

What am I supposed to be seeing in your log file?

A screenshot of what you're trying to do would be helpful.

Is there a reason that you can't have a continuous mesh between the two sheet bodies? (GLUE command)

I'd start in the "Modeling Solid-Solid and Shell-Shell Assemblies" section of the Help File/Contact Technology Guide.

Good Morning,

I work with Ansys Mechanical (APDL).

Please try to run my log file and seen the error message. Idon't understand my mistake.

I would like to join two sheets by means of MPC. It's a simple example to begin in the second step wih a big model. In order to avoid a coincident mesh between some components of bundle frame, I would like to use the MPC command but I don't find my mistake in this example.

I think that the best way is to run my model, to understand what I try to model.

Is it clear for you?
