All:

I am trying to develop MSD's from available PFD's. Right now we do not have equipment datasheets,We only have pipespecs available, would that information be enough for the MSD's.
What other information do I need?

Any help would be appreciated?

All:

I forgot to add, I have Material Selection Design Basis Document available listing matieral requirements for key equipment items.

The basis to start develop a MSD is a Material Selection Report, or maybe you can call it Material Selection Design Basis Document.
The important thing is that this document explain clearly what are the assumption, calculation, standard, and the criteria adopted to select the material for at least the main stream and item of your plant.
I've seen sometimes people that develop P&IDs without a Material Selection Report and discover that they have to change all the materials.
So, this is my suggestion, before you start develop anything be sure that you have a "solid" document produced by someone with experience in Corrosion & Materials Selection.

I agree with strider6. There has to be first a design basis document, Material Selection and Corrosion Control that describes the material selection criteria and corrosion control strategy like material selection, surface preparations and coatings, cathodic protection, chemical injection and corrosion monitoring systems. All this data shall be depicted in the MSD's in order the PID's to be issued accordingly.I think equipment data sheets and piping material classes specs are enough for a preliminary stage. In MSD you have to define the base material, corrosion allowance, internals/valves trim, internal coatings if any, service, design pressure and design temperature, required cathodic protection, chemical injection and corrosion monitoring points if any.GOOD LUCK!
