MTBF data unavailable 1

Hi,
I must often do RAM analysis of based systems on PC, workstation...... but I have a lot difficulty to find the MTBF or some other RAM parameters of these componenents. Can someone tell me if a (free) database exist for this values?

I'd almost think that was a company-proprietary value shared with only a select few (read, those who can afford to purchase the data from the manufacturer). Other than MTBF data from independent test shops (Google ran a good test on hard drives, for example). RAM is a pretty tough cookie these days... it wouldn't surprise me if MBTF is well into the 100k hours range for a quality brand. At that point, it makes sense to just upgrade for most applications.

If you have to do this for your business, then it should be willing to pay for the data, otherwise, you're just kidding yourself.

for a preliminary analysis, before the purchasing of the component, I can't ask the data to possible supplier......
For this reason I trying to find a database....



 
Buy from a reputable manufacturer (e.g., Kingston) and enjoy a lifetime warranty... even if the RAM does give up the ghost, they replace it for free. Tough to beat that kind of warranty.

RAM = Reliability Availability and Maintainability.

 
You could check out failure rate databases like Exida, MIL-HDBK-217 and RAC FMD–97. They list FIT (failure in time) values for all sorts of electronic components. You'll have to do some derivations to extrapolate to PC components, but that's the way safety critical type analysis is done.
