MTO - material take off (or) make to order 1

Dear Folks,
Could any one explain the terminalogy MTO?
is it material take off or is it make to order?
This one i found it in our project deliverables. since i am new to this field, if some one can help me what is material take off, is great help.

I think it's going to depend on the context, like most abbreviations. Material Takeoff is pretty common. I'm sure there are others.
 
Thomos - If you are asking what is a Material Take Off - it is the process of going through the design drawings, sketches, applicable codes and specifications to determine the quantity of meterials required for a particular project. An MTO should result in a Bill of Material (BOM) or a listing of everything that needs to be purchased or supplied.
