I have a fume extraction system on the canopy of a Drilling mud shale shaker. The fan extraction velocity is too high. This results in mud droplets being carried over into the air handling unit and choking the outlet filter. I cannot adjust the air velocity, because there are 3 other systems connected.
I need to fit a filter, (mesh, scrubber, wave type plate) at the shaker to prevent mud carry -over. Would appreciate information on manufacturer of such a cartridge. The trunking is 10 in diameter.

Since you can't adjust the velocity, is it possible to add a blast gate (open to atmosphere) onto the connecting ductwork after the mud shale shaker hood? This would allow you to bleed-in clean air to the duct line. The velocity at the hood would be reduced, and the total flow of the system could be adjusted to remain the same.

Have already added the blast gate, but still have a carry-over problem. Thanks for the input. I cannot make adjustments to the fan speed or any other part of the system , without causing imbalance. I want to eliminate the primary problem, which is the mud carry-over. I am looking for a source for an effective scrubber cartridge, which can be easily removed for cleaning when required.
I intend to remove the discharge filter, but I still need to prevent the mud loss, which is a critical issue in oilwell drilling.
