Hopefully simple scenario (MS Project 2007):-

I have one task which is a 7 day workshop. Resource 1 (£50/day) will be involved for the first 5 days & then the 2nd resource (£30/day) will be the last 2 days.
How can I enter this resource in days for each resource? I don't want to be entering 5/7's for resource 1 and 2/7's for resource 2 as a percentage as this isn't accurate for costing calculations. Can this be done and if so what is the task type?

Thanks for any help.

I think you're just going to have to use the 7-day as a rollup for a 5-day and a 2-day task.

Did you try to allocate hours of work to your ressources?

MSP cannot time separate two resources assigned to the same task in time; MSP can only split the task between the two resources proportionally over the entire duration.

So from a strict cash flow perspective, even if you got the right allocations, the time phase of the cash flow would not correct for this particular problem.

This can be done but it will take several steps:

Turn off effort-driven scheduling for the task and make it a fixed unit task.

Assign the each resource to the task for the number of hours that each resource will be assigned.

Tooks --> Task Usage -- find the task

Both resources - change timescale on the right side of the screen to be per week/per day, tweek the number of hours to occur on the correct days. each resource will carry their standard rate.

This should work for you -- good luck
