Greetings,

I'm a new V5 user with training. I'm NC programming and our instructor in class only went over simple 1 process jobs. What I want to do is have multiple stage jobs. To do this I have a product for each different set-up. What I'm having a problem with is when I bring in my 2nd operation I can't constrain the 2nd set-up into place with the common component. I keep getting a "component is not active" message although the component appears to be clearly active. I have many years with V4 5axis so this is very different for me.

Thanks in advance!

I do not use the NC module but i will give it a shot.

Product A
Product B
Setup plate.Catpart
part2machine.Catpart

Product C
Setup Plate.Catpart
part2machine.Catpart

Double pick the product (B or C), this will highlight the name in blue - indicating the active level. Create a fix constraint on the Setup Plate, constrain the part2machine to the plate.

Derek

Thanks Derek,

I tried this at the product level without any problem. It's when I'm in the process area where the trouble begins. I was able to do this in the process area with only one process complete, then add a product, then add a process and it would constrain OK. It was when I had two process existing that the problems started. The 2nd process was a mirror of the 1st operation so I assumed it would work the same way, however I could add the 2nd product no problem it's when I tried to constrain it I received the "component not active" message. Again, both products were clearly active, I could pick either one 1st but when I went to pick the other is when I get stuck.

Thanks for the feed back, is there anyone with multiple process experience that can help?

Create multiple process files (1 process file for every attitude)... That will save you a lot of head aches down the road. ...
