Multiple Room HAZOP 1

We have carried out HAZOPs, with part of the team in a separate location, with varying degrees of success. Typically the rooms are connected by high speed internet so that video and audio of the teams are available to each office. In addition HAZOP software displays are available in both rooms with control from one room, typically using NetMeeting or better. What experience have you had with this type of HAZOP? Is there any literature on the issue? Any tips on success?

What HAZOP software do you use? What are the specific problems that you have encountered? I suppose you are using the share an application feature with Net Meeting. Is this correct?

rbcoulter - I use PHA-Pro from Dyadem International. Yes we have used the Share Application feature of NetMeeting. Problems have included an "us and them" dynamic developing between the two locations, NetMeeting crashing when different versions of Windows are used at each end, and generally a tougher job for the facilitator to control both rooms.

Monagas - You should post this type of question in the Cost Analysis and engineering economics forum. In answer to your questions 1) The March 2005 CECPI won't be out for a few more months. 2) The 2004 CECPI should be out in 1 to 2 months.It looks like it will be at least 10% above the 2003 value of 402 mainly due to the high demand and price for steel.
