Trying to find the optimal way to palletize multiple SKUs from
a conveyor by two humans.Any ideas, cant seem to find any best strategy so far. Currently at my warehouse this process is a bottle.

Mike,
Due to privacy issues I will not be able to post a video. I understand I will make the issue on visible.
That being said, this is how to works currently, boxes are currently being offloaded from a trailer, there are two guys at the end of the trailer. Based on the number of SKUs in the trailer(a print out of SKUs types and numbers) they split the SKUs one guy taking other and the other takes even. Its easier when you have about 4 SKUs,the problem arises when you have numerous SKUs that are coming out off the trailer in an nonuniform order. They still split the SKUs amongst them but it gets tricky due to the numerous SKUs and the nonuniform order the boxes come out.We realize that every time there are numerous SKUs their throughput reduces because they dont seem to find a systematic way of palletizing all these different SKUs. so they endup using their own judgement. Hope this helps.thx

Are you always dealing with consistent quantities of each sku, or does this vary widely? You could use a compartmented pallet container, but this is going to make less efficient use of space if quantities/volumes vary.

SKUs does vary a lot, problem arises when there are so many SKUs.IT has to be palletized by same SKUs, or only two SKUs on pallet. whenever there are alot of them the workers cannot find a better way to sort them. what is a compartmented pallet container

You may be able to handle this unloading task with fewer man-hours by adding some inexpensive technology (e.g. hand-held scan gun(s). Are all items coming off trailers already labeled with a bar code? If so, for each new load, you know from the load manifest what SKUs are on that trailer. Based on the number of SKUs on load, assign that number of offload pallet stations (one per SKU, e.g. "A", "B", "C", "D", etc.). Then, load each SKU# and cross reference pallet station ID into the handheld scanner, so every time a pallet is scanned, the handheld displays the corresponding pallet ID. This is the lowest-tech method, but this could be further automated depending on volume and frequency of this activity. I hope this helps.

Thanks,
