Mvarh losses - what is it and how to interpret them.

I am analysing a local distribution 60kV-network, with a 150/60kV tranformerstation as its feeder. When I do a load flow calculation with load profiles, over a year, I get a lot of Mvarh losses - this isn't a concept we have learned about in school. So I hope that some of you can give me an idea how I should explain this loss and what the concequenses are. I am writing a report on this network.

There are some utilities that have penalty limits for total Mvars used over time - lost is a dubious word in this case - and there are some that actually bill you for part of or all the Mvarhours consumed. So a big number may have an economical consequence. It differs from country to country and also between utilities.

Thanks for your reply. It does not seem to be an economical issue in Denmark with the consumed Mvarh. I will just comment on it in the report and then only discuss the MWh loss.
