I need to quiet my air compressor. I have read some literature on noise reducing/dampening materials. How do I know what product is right for my application?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I may be able to give you some insight, please reply with some info on the air compressor. ie - how many compressors, the motor horse power, belt or direct drive, used for what purpose (industrial/process, atc, medical, etc)?? Need this info to determine what approach you should be taking first.

I'm sure there are ways of putting an enclosure around the machine, but you need to provide adequate ventilation. The best way to quiet a compressor, however, is to move it out of there to a place where you can't hear it. Pipe is cheap, so placing your compressor near the work is false economy compared to the misery cost of the noise. A small outbuilding or shed would be ideal. Heat it and make sure the outside piping is sloped if you have freezing weather so it doesn't ice up.
