Hi, I am a 2nd-year grad student. This would probably be my first in-person AIChE. (if it happens).

I am super excited but also a little confused how should I prepare?

The reason for my confusion is, I have a wide range of experience in my tiny career.
BSc Chemical Engineering (Asia)
Worked as Process Design Engineer in EPC for about 3 years (Asia)
MS in Chemical Engineering specializing in Battery Supercapacitors: So I conversant most of the nano-characterization techniques (South Korea)
Ongoing Ph.D. in system Engineering, Process Intensification (US)

My dream job would be scaling up any nanotech using my system engineering knowledge.

Dream jobs lose the gloss after a while. They are often supplantted by good jobs, with interesting work, in places that our family can tolerate or perhaps even like, and that pay the bills.

Unfortunately most of us never get to do our dream job. Instead we work at what we are doing where we are. Some of us grow to enjoy doing what we are doing. Some of us become very good at it.

My dream job has managed to last to the point where I'm on the verge of retiring from same, but I recognize that not everyone is so lucky ;-)

In any case, hopefully, you'll get a reasonably meaty internship, but your actual job experience probably should have some weight for both getting the internship as well as any future jobs. Note that internships in many places are now treated as a 3-month, 6-month, or whatever length, job interview, so you'll need to bring your "A" game to it and slay it.
