Does any one knows how much purging time is used for purging the oil tanks? for API 614 Lube oil system.

Depends on volumes, flows, and configuration. There are ways to model this.

Thank you for the reply Edstainless.
Purge volume is 4nm3 and the nitrogen is coming in tank with 3mbarg pressure. what should be the purging time for this? i am considering 15 mins purging time.
that means flow of nitrogen 16 nm3/hr.

How low do you want the residuals? Typically purging with 7 volumes will get you good results.
The inlet pressure doesn't really matter, just flow in standard terms.
Pressure can matter if it is too high, you can have too much turbulence and get more mixing and less purging.

residuals should be low as much as possible. purging with 7volumes means? 7 times of the volume in which gases can be trapped?
tank is atmospheric and we have a demister(on vent line) also on the tank so the pressure will not be high.
is there any standard time for purging of tanks in oil and gas industry?
