What do you think is a better name for a structural engineer, Rod or Kip?
I know at least one of each.

I like Kip.

I know an Estonian SE with the first name Rein and a middle initial F. When he signs stuff, it sometimes looks like "Reinf." which is cool.

An old manager at RJC, when it was in Winnipeg had the name Peter Boudens... and used to sign everything as 'Peebee'... I tried the same tack and my real name is Richard Coates... but have used Dik for 50 years... I started signing things 'Arsey'... the manager did not like the approach and I changed... (I was a kid back then)

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?

I knew a draftsman who always added the letters "SBTCTD after his name on drawings.

How about the name Rock, or is that for civil engineers?

Worked at a YoungLife camp in college. The wife of the young married couple who ran shotgun on us had the maiden name Kathern Crappyshits. On expressing our doubts of this she broke out her grandmother's bible which had it monogrammed on the front cover.

I'd advise staying away from that one.

One of the long time Distribution Engineers here had the last name of “Fallt”. We also have another system engineer with the last name of “Power”.

A German salesman used to visit our office.
His name was Fucs.
When he introduced himself and gave you his card he always added that his name was pronounced Fox.

Kip would work in the US, but everywhere else, Rod would be better.

I taught power classes to a renewable energy engineering student whose last name was Watts, and later he and I briefly worked together as power engineers at the same firm.
