Naming your Results Set

Hi,

Does anyone knows where to name your results set before launching your analysis?

I always get NX Nastran Case 1 by default and have to rename it everytime. This is kind of tedious when you have a large number of Analysis/Results Sets.

Help anyone?

Thanks,

Whyowhy

Dear Whyowhy,
Yes, in fact, the defaultt option is a little tedious, the "trick" is the following:

Before you analyze the model, you will set your Femap preferences so that the title of the results could be, for instance, the title of the NX Nastran subcase.
• Select the "File, Preferences" command.
• Select the Interfaces tab in the Preferences dialog box.
• Under the Nastran Solver Options group, set the Output Set Titles to "0.. Standard", "1.. Nastran TITLE", "2..Nastran SUBTITLE", or "3.. Nastran LABEL".

Remember to exit FEMAP to take in effect any change on PREFERENCES.

Best regards,
Blas.

i'd've looked inside "model/analysis". click edit, and step through each page.

@BlasMolero

I tried that and it didn't work. Tried both "Nastran Subtitle" and "Nastran Label", closed femap, reopened, reran, and still getting "NX NASTRAN Case 1" for each of my Analysis sets even though they have different names.

@rb1957

Tried that as well, didn't find anywhere where I could name Results sets.

I have 7 different analysis sets(with different names) and my results tree looks like this:

1. NX NASTRAN Case 1
2. NX NASTRAN Case 1
3. NX NASTRAN Case 1
4. NX NASTRAN Case 1
5. NX NASTRAN Case 1
6. NX NASTRAN Case 1
7. NX NASTRAN Case 1

you might try multi-set analysis (at least then you should get different numbers for eash case).

Dear Whyowhy,
At my end it runs OK, then it simply means that you don't have created any subcase. If you want to name your NASTRAN output set with the name of your study, simply choose the option "1..Nastran TITLE".
Best regards,
Blas.

creating subcases means running multi-set analysis ?

looking at model/analysis/multi-set ... i don't see an option to name the cases ... looks like case 1, case 2
unless the case name is the constraint set name and the loadcase name ?

Hello!,
Please use the following steps to set up a multi-set simulation with FEMAP & NX NASTRAN:
• In the Analysis Set Manager dialog box, expand the Master Requests and Conditions, and the Boundary Conditions and Output Requests subtrees.
• Select Boundary Conditions and click the Edit button.
• In the Boundary Conditions dialog box, set both the Primary Sets Constraints and Loads to "0..None".
• Click the "MultiSet" button in the Analysis Set Manager dialog box.
• In the "Entity Selection – Select Constraint Set(s) to Generate Cases" dialog box, click "Select All" and then OK.
• In the "Entity Selection – Select Load Set(s) to Generate Cases" dialog box, click "Select All" and then OK.
• Note that in the Analysis Set Manager dialog box there will be many subcases, resulting from the combination of the multiple Load sets with the combination of the multiple constraint sets.

• Click the "Done" button to close the dialog box.

Best regards,
Blas.

Subcases only allow me to define different load cases and differenc contraints sets.

My Analyses differ in bulk data as well, I'm running different groups, it doesn't seem like I can define this in subcases.

Thank you for your feedback, I greately apreciate it.

i think you're stuck doing a bunch of single laodcase runs (since you're using different portions of your model) and renaming after the run (so you don't forget !).

maybe ask the help desk ?

Hi,
I use "slow" double click to edit result name. After you have calculated a result, just double click your result "NX NASTRAN Case 1" slowly and then you are able to modify result name.

@VonFea: How "slow" do you click? hehehee why the quotes hahaha I like that, I'm gonna click real "slow".

Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know that someone finally answered this question for me and I want to share it with you.

To automatically name your result set with the same name as your analysis set without having to click on it real "slow", simply go to FILE - PREFERENCES - INTERFACES - NASTRAN SOLVER WRITE OPTIONS - OUTPUT SET TITLES and set that box to "Nastran TITLE". Click that once real "slow".

I'm using Version 10.3.1 btw.

Mystery solved "slowly" but "surely",

W
