I read that the older version of NASGRO was free, as well as AFGRO. Does anyone have these versions? Also, are there trial versions of the new versions? Thanks.

I don't believe NASGRO ever went through a free trial period, but I came late to that game, too.
I did pick up an early free copy of AFGROW and stayed up to date until the transition to a licensing model. The old free versions are missing many modeling functions that you may be expected to include in your work, so using the free copy will leave you hanging on some issues. But they sure can save a lot of time.
