Hi all,
Would someone explain the tension/compression option for me? From what I can find online, it was introduced in vers.6.1. In the appendix, it says something to effect of the complex structures of aircraft, where there are remote loads. It allows stress gradients for tension and compression.
But how does it modify the input stresses? And why?
I tried a simple case of loading. don't have the files, as it on my work computer.
s0
tens: 0,1; 100,100
comp: 0,1; -100,-100
material. inco 718
load block: 10000 cycles, s0-t1 = 1, s0-t2 = 1, scale = 1.0
repeat schedule: 999,999
if I leave all options unchecked, I get ~2400 cycles before fracture toughness failure.
if I toggle 'tens/comp'... I get no growth predicted.
if I toggle 't1/t2'... I get ~2400 cycles before fracture toughness failure. Same as having options unchecked.
What am I missing?
Thanks in advance.
