Nastran Error

Hi,

I am trying to run a Nastran job and I got the following error:

NSINIT: *** NSINIT ERROR 70 *** UNABLE TO OPEN UNIT 8

I have no idea about the above error. I appreciate to know your feedback. Do you know how can I fix this error?

Please note that I doing a test on a simple nastran bdf file (there was no problem with this file few days ago).

I think You are running on a version 2004 or earlier.

You should reverse the system date to yesterday and try again.

It seems to happen to many people! Today is first of April!

We just called support about this and they said that NX Nastran is "broken" (their word, not mine).

They said they have internal program bug that stops nastran on 1st april 2009. They are fixing it. (1 april 2009, 2:45 CT)

NX Nastran Alert


As of April 1, 2009, all releases of NX Nastran are not working. The
problem has been traced to a programming instruction in the inherited
Nastran source code that causes the Nastran executable to shut down if the
executing computer’s internal date is after March 31, 2009.

Siemens PLM is devoting all effort at this time to develop a fix that we
can make available to customers as quickly as possible. As of yet, the only
sure fix to the problem is to reset the date on the executing computer to a
date prior to April 1, 2009. We will start posting download corrections on
our support website by Thursday April 2, 2009. NX Nastran 6 and 6.1 on all
platforms will be the first versions available. Other versions will become
available soon afterwards.

We sincerely apologize for the disruption that this problem has caused. We
will issue another update as soon as we have more information.

Check out NEiNastran - there website has a good deal offering a lease on NEINastran to get you out of trouble. They posted it today so I guess you may get a good discount. NEiNastran is pretty cloes to NX. A lot of usrs seem to like it better.

Since you are using versions prior to 2005.r2, this error is issued. you can find the solution on the following link:

I have the same problem, but I havent found a solution in that link. Before downloading a new version of my analysis.exe file from that web, this message appeared in the log file:
NSINIT: *** NSINIT ERROR 70 *** UNABLE TO OPEN UNIT 8

But now, with the new analysis.exe file, there is no error message, as well as there are no results. If I open the .log file, at the bottom of the file I read a message telling that the analysis has started, but nothing more. And, of course, there is no .xdb file created.
