1. What type of structure is it? (materials, configuration, use)
2. Why does it need structural renovation?

You may want to look into doing some intrusive testing. Some concrete companies have x-ray machines they can use to tell where/size of rebar present. They can also core a sample and tell you the strength of it.

Thanks for the tips, I have finished the thesis in may and it went very well now that i know the result. In renovation of building i looked at non-destructive testing in detail and arried out lab test for re-bound hammer and ultrasonic testing. If you want info on them let me know. I was especially surprised with the effectivness of the re-bound hammer... thanks again, Aodh

Aodh,
I would very much like information on both the re-bound hammer and ultra sound testing. Did you test for carbonation and conditions which might lead to loss of passivation by testing PH?

Thanks -Kent
