I am an electrical engineer by education, with a MS degree in Engineering Management. I have a strong background in product engineering and project management. Recently I was put in charge of an industrial engineering department, with the responsibility of launching new product and supporting existing production.
I've been working in a manufacturing facility for several years, so I have some basic understanding of manufacturing and process design, but I need a quick crash course in IE basics like layouts, time studies, etc. It's been a while since I took my operations courses in university, and I need to get up to speed so that I can work with this group effectively. I've got technical experts, so I don't need to become one myself, but I at least need to be able to understand and validate what they are doing.
Can anyone recommend some good online resources or books that will help me get up to speed? I'm looking for something a little more advanced than "IE for Dummies", but at the same time I don't want to go digging out my old calc books!
