I bought Ingersoll Rand Type30 Reciprocating, Electric Air Compressor, Model : 2545E, 175psig ; 10hp mounted on 500L tank, Capacity : 30 CFM. I need:

• Air Compressor tank: minimum safe thickness value in mm for: Shell and head. (Need minimum wall thickness to maintain for shell & dish) The tank original wall thickness is around 6 mm.

It says code of construction: BS EN 286-1:1998+A2:2005.

MAXIMUM WORKING PRESSURE: 175 PSI (12.30 kg/cm²)

TANK CAPACITY: 500 LTR

TANK DIAMETER: 600 MM

Strictly speaking, you need to go to the manufacturer/designer and find out what minimum wall thickness is called out on the drawing.

Only if that fails, buy a copy of BS EN 286-1:1998+A2:2005, from which you will be able to calculate a minimum wall thickness that should match the one the designers came up with (this vessel is over the 3000 bar-litre threshold, so they will have been obliged to use the formula in the standard).
