Can anyone recommend a good book or other source of info on the Miller Cycle engine? As I understand, it is simular to the Atkinson Cycle (less the complex mechanism) engine but with a pump to get the specific HP back up. Thanks

MWPC:

Miller cycling was first proposed in a 1947 Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) paper by Ralph Miller. The title was "Supercharging and Internal Cooling Cycle for High Output".

Concerning the Atkinson cycle: There are several photos or drawings of Mr. Atkinson's engines in a book by Lyle Cummins called "Internal Fire". There is also a brief description of how it worked.

There is a lot of information floating around about the Mazda 929 2.3-liter Miller Cycle V6. You should look it up.

Heres some sites:

(not all that helpful, but useful)

Hope it all helps.

All,

Thanks for the help. The Prius article had some hard valve timing and compression ratio data!
