Need for a nose in foam pig / corrosion of metal components in pigs 1

Hello. Can somebody explain why foam pigs have a pointed nose at the end?

Also, certain pigs have metal components in it (such as in articulated pigs or in the case of aluminum gauge plates). Is there not a possibility for these to be corroded by the process medium.

Thank you in advance.

I can see you are new here but have you spent too long in the sauna??

They have a pointed nose so that they know where to go. And makes it easier to launch and get over any obstacles.

Second one, no. Not in contact for long enough.

What is the "process medium"? If its sulfuric acid you may be in trouble.
Put the pointy end in first.

Einstein gave the same test to students every year. When asked why he would do something like that, "Because the answers had changed."

Thanks, guys (binary term)... didn't know that.

Not all foam pigs have noses. Some are flat nosed.

Let's keep this on track please.

Thanks everyone for your responses.

Can you please elaborate how the pointy nose helps in launching? I can see how it helps to overcome obstructions by breaking them apart.

Pig traps have a reducer from the big barrel to the pipeline size.

A pointy nose helps you to shove the pig in as far as you can into the pipeline sized bit so that it launches ok.
