Need Help, About Sucker Rod AISI 4119,4130,polished rod 4140,AISI 1045

Hai everybody,can Sucker rod AISI 4130 use at oil drilling?what different AISI 1045 with AISI 4130,and AISI 4119?
can i get reference form senior what brand have a cheap price and good quality?

41XX is Chromium - Molybdenum Steels it got .8~1.0 Cr and .15~.25 Mo and then the last two digits means the carbon content. It got Mn as well.

1045 is plain carbon steel, and got Mn and .45% carbon.

So 1045 should be usually cheaper than 41XX as it does not include alloys of Cr and Mo and now Mo is extremely expensive.

I do not know your application, so no comment on that. 41XX should potentially better than 1045. Higher Carbon will give you higher strength and less ductility.

 
4119 is no longer a standard steel grade. The Mn is .40-.60 and the Mo is .20-.30. SAE (AISI no longer designates steel grades) 4121 is probably the closest standard equivalent.

4130 is typically widely available, with the compositions that salmon2 has mentioned.

We need to know what is the function of a sucker rod, does it see any impact, wear, torsion, etc. Then we can provide a better answer as far as steel selection is concerned.
