Hi All,
Not sure if this is located in the correct forum- really had to scratch my head over it and then defaulted to my M.E.s!
I am trying to located a supplier of vinyl hanger caps that are ovular in cross section not round.
An example of your typical vinyl hanger can be found at:
The approximate dimmensions that I am looking to encapsulate are 1"x0.5". The issue of using a 1" ID vinyl hanger cap is that there is too much remaining space inbetween the object and the cap. The seal between the cap and the object needs to be a tight one, preferably water tight to some small amount. It is also necessary that the cap have the hanger/eyelet portion.
I have some samples of heat shrink end caps on the way, however they do not have the "hanger portion" that would be advantageous to my design.
I have also played around with shriking the vinyl (PVC) cap down to the shape of the object by heating it up to ~250F, however I have not noticed any dimmensional changes yet (except the effect of gravity pulling the eyelet down/narrower). I am hesitant to go to higher temperatures.
Any help or things to search for would be of great help!
Thanks.
