Hello,

I am trying to figure out the proper MUTCD sign code for a named parkway - for example "John Doe Parkway." Does any one know the appropriate MUTCD sign code I should use? The existing signage is a brown sign with white border which would indicate to me it would be a cultural/recreational sign, yet I am not sure it qualifies as a dedicated or memorial highway either. I am trying to figure out which sign code I should put on the plans. Thanks in advance.

If it's a wide, short sign that says

John Doe Pkwy

You you could call it a D3-1.

If it's as high as high like a route number marker, like

John
Doe
Pkwy

check your state supplement and see what they call it. For example, New York uses the code "NYM5-1" for parkway markers and similar signs.
