I have an animation result in .dbb format and I would like to view the animation in Real player so that I can take the .avi file to give a presentation. I dont have ANSYS on my laptop due to which I cannot open the file to give the presentation. If anyone can help me doing this, I would be grateful.

Thanks a lot,
Ashwin.

Hi,

there is a problem in what you are saying, because ".dbb" is the extension for Ansys' DataBase Backup file, not a result file and even less an animation file.
Creating an animation out from Ansys' results NEED Ansys to be used. Not necessarily the full Ansys Classical environment, but at least the Animate module.

Hi,

First of all, thank you very much for replying me.

What I meant was, when I open a new page in ANSYS and double click on this file.dbb, it opens along with its results. In those results, I have my animation. I go to general post processor, Results Viewer, and then start the animation from there.

But do you mean that this animation cannot be viewed in Real player? Is there no way that I can isolate this animation part from the results, change it to .avi format and view it in Real player? Any way to view just the animation in Real Player?

Thanks a lot,

Ashwin.

Ashwin:

If you can open you file.dbb in Ansys. go to Plotctrls>>animate>>save animation. It can output an .avi file.

Hi Sir,

Thanks a lot for this great, simple and valuable reply.

Hi,

I saved the animation file from >>plot controls >>animate and it got saved in .anim format and it is not palying in Real Player. Can you help me?

Ashwin

Hi,

in Windows environment, the Real Player format is not supported bu Ansys. You can cheat with the "anim" Ansys format and save it as an ".avi", it will work with Windows Media Player, but for translating it into Real Player you will need a transcoder. Other thing: the animation is captured in the viewport's size, so if you have to publish it on the web (I suppose that's why Real Player) it will probably be too "heavy". I don't know how to scale it down (or up...), perhaps somebody can throw some light on it...

Hi, Thanks a lot, I'll try that.
