I can visualize it in my head, but can't figure out how to get make it in the model.

I have a coiled rectangular profile.
In the center, I need it to twist and curve so it exits pointing downward with a square profile.

I need it to have a nice smooth transition maintaining the same minimum cross section area in the center.

My first thought is a loft, but it really messes up the profile, and deforms into a really akward shape. (Maybe just need to add some guide curves on each corner, but can't figure out how to create the nice smooth sweep I need.

Attached is an image of the loft, which is the basic idea I am looking for, but needs to be a lot smoother.
Also the SW file if any one wants to take a shot at it.

Thanks in advance.

1. my first thought is to get the outside modeled, and then use a shell command to hollow out the inside and maintain a constant wall thickness.

2. my second thought is how will you fabricate this part?
