New user, first post.

I am trying to capture the surface waves that form on a small body of water that is vibrating. My geometry right now is approximately 2mm in depth and 40mm in diameter, the vibration driving surface is the lower face of this "disc" of water and it actuates normal to the surface. Vibration amplitude is 0.1mm and the frequency is 200Hz, of the form z(t)=A*sin(w*t). I am open to suggestions for 3D and 2D axisymmetric methods.

So far, I have tried using the FLUID80 element and it doesn't seem to capture the standing waves on the surface that have been observed experimentally. The free surface just oscillates as a plane, in phase with the driving surface.

Any suggestions?

I've never tried anything like that, but my gut instinct says that it's a CFD problem.

Thanks for the input. I am beginning to think that myself also.
