Dear all,

I am using Ansys to model a micro device which contains deformation of a Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) Elastomer. I want to use HYPER56, HYPER58 to model this hyperelastic material, but I can not find the Mooney-Rivlin Hyperelastic Material Constants (I am using a 2 parameter Mooney-Rivlin model). Can someone point me where to find these information? Thanks.

Hi,
I am modeling a microvalve made of PDMS, and I need to find the Mooney-Rivlin Hyperelastic Material Constants of this hyperelastic material (I am using a 2 parameter Mooney-Rivlin model). Does anyone know the two parameters? Or can someone point me where to find these information? Thank you very much.

What you need/acquire depends on how accurate your analysis needs to be and of course the extent of your non-linearities.

You may find some of these constants lying around from ANSYS input decks that have been published on the web, or on scientific journal websites (such as for example). Check on as well. However, it is highly unlikely you will get constants that will match your material precisely, so if you go searching in this way don't expect too much. Of course, the best thing to do is set up your own experiments with this material in order to obtain the M-R constants you need.
