Hi,

I have some ref542 plus in my current project. Is it possible to communicate using Ethernet cable(RJ45)and configuration tool????

I dont have that optical serial cable. In the configuration tool manual they described that there is a provision to use Ethernet port. But the procedure is not described very well. DId anyone used a LAN cable before???

If someone has any idea plz help me out....

IED version:V4F.08a
Configuration tool version:V4F.08b
Port used:X70 on the base unit.

Thank in advance
Tony

Hi,

You can use the Ethernet port, take a look in section 3.5.5 in the "Configuration Tool Manual" found here: Link
You could also use the electrical RS232 port to communicate with the IED.

Thnx for your replay.....

I tried that....I could establish a healthy connection between IED and PC.I checked connection through the 'ping' command and its pinging...But when I try to read data from IED it gives connection error saying check TCP/IP configuration. Is there any additional setting in the configuration tool??

Is it possible to communicate using PCM???.I just need to read the disturbance record and parameter settings.

Hi Tony,

Hmm, if I'm not misstaken you should actually enter the settings for ethernet connection in two separate menues/setting lists. I'm not sure, but I'll check this on Monday.

Cheers,

Hi,

Thanks for replay.Sorry for delay.
Still not I can't communicate with REF542 using Ethernet cable. When we asked for its Magnetic cable ABB's price is very high.
If you have any leads help me out.

Oops, I totally forgot about this thread...
I haven't checked the connection via ethernet Cable, but I know that a Dsub9F-Dsub9F serial cable will work.
I can't remember if it's a strait or a null modem Cable I use - need to check this.

Kind regards,
SB
