Hello all I need journal to move objects to specific layers. for e.g. solids in 1, sheets in 11, curves in 41, csys in 61, datum points and planes in 62, sketches in 21. I have parts with vey long part history it takes a lot of time to manually assign layers.

thanks in advance !!!

In the meantime, learn how to filter and select objects from the Move to Layer dialog....shouldn't matter how many features or objects are in the Part Navigator.

Moving solids and sheets to new layers is pretty easy, but the other object types present a few new issues.

Sketches and curves are closely related; a sketch can contain curve objects. Using a journal, you can move the sketch and the sketch curves to different layers; but (if I remember correctly) NX will move the sketch curves back to the sketch layer at the next model update. I assume that you want sketches and sketch curves in layer 21 and non-sketch curves in layer 41; is this correct?

Similarly, a datum csys feature groups several datums together. From your post, I assume you want all those objects on the same layer (61), and other datum objects (individual planes & axes) on layer 62? A datum csys includes a point object, is this what you are referring to as a "datum point"? A part can also have unassociative point objects, associative point objects/features, and point set features. Do you need any special handling for these point objects? Finally, some features can be "internal" to other features; e.g. a datum csys can be internal to a sketch, a sketch can be internal to an extrude, etc. If you have an internal feature, do you want to move it to the new layer or leave it where it is?

yes cowski you are right about sketches in 21 and non sketch curves in 41. yes i want internal feature as it is and you are right about points and planes. please suggest me any journal for this.
I am using NX 10.0.3.5

thanks.
