To transmit 15hp for 1500 hours, I'm looking at:
16/32 pitch, 24 teeth
External spline length = .50 inch
1 7/16 nominal shaft, steel, 6 inch long
spline approx in middle of shaft

1 7/16 ductile iron round hub, 2 inch wide
Internal spline length = 2 inch
Must slide back and forth 1.2 inches while transmitting torque and provide good fit to shaft(.003-.006 clearance)
on minor diameter of internal spline.

Since I think it needs to be minor diameter fit, I can't find standard to address this. I've looked at Omni Gear, Mchy Hdbk, etc.
Star Cutter, St Louis Gear are advising me, but not enough help yet.

I had formulas at work and think
they were published in Marks
Engineering Handbook. You might
want to check your technical library
as these standards are available
as well as the method of calculating
same.

The standard way to do this is via a major diameter fit. Broach makers provide this to a SAE standard, and you gring the spline OD to obtain the fit. The specs are found in ANSI B92.1-1996.

Since your male spline is short, and the hub is long, you could cur the spline in a stepped shaft with a proper diameter behind the spline and a thin bushing on the near side. Then you could have the female ID ride on these two round diameters.
