Our client had a disastrous power outage that resulted in major down time to a large industrial facility. As a result, we are in need of help from experts who can help in the areas below.
Do you know of anyone who can help!! We are in urgent need of these services.
STUDY:
We need an unbiased, independent, technical consultant that can perform lightning calculations and model the resultant voltages/currents on transmissions lines and industrial power systems.
Here are some prequalification and upfront questions we need answers to as soon as possible:
1) What are ranges of lightning voltages and kA seen on transmission lines?
2) Where do they get data for lightning?
3) Do they have experience with developing models for transmission systems and industrial power systems?
4) What software package do they use?
5) Customer list.
6) Example systems they have provided calculations for.
7) Example pictures of lightning damage on utility and industrial power distribution systems.
8) List of input data required for studies.
9) Schedule for performing calculations (if majority of data required is already in hand).
10) Do they need to travel to site to gather data?
11) Do they offer recommendations for improving lightning protection schemes?
12) Any experience working in xxx and with xxx utilities and industrial customers?
13) How soon can they get started? How soon can they travel to xxx, if needed? [Overseas]
14) Need contract, purchase order, letter of intent, etc. to get started?
15) Ballpark price for this work including travel (if needed) and conducting study for five different configurations on the plant incoming switchgear. Utility provides service from two lines, one normal and one alternate, on single transmission tower. Plant switchgear has two incoming mains, one normally closed and one normally open, tie breaker closed, and six feeder breakers. We can provide previous study which includes impedance diagram (would need to be verified as part of this study).
Forensics:
1) Failure analysis on cable bus bushing rated 84kV, 400kV BIL that failed and provide failure analysis report (what caused the failure?).
2) Can they perform analysis on two other bushings and subject to stresses until failure (expected to be approximately 460kV, 40 microsec pulse)?
3) Analysis of vacuum circuit breaker to see if it has been exposed to lightning voltage spike and the spike jumped the open contacts in the vacuum bottles.
4) Analysis of health of 98kV, 10kA lightning arresters.
5) Analysis of 84kV cable bus to see if damaged by spike.
We can send all equipment to them for analysis.
Additional questions for them:
1) How long would analysis take?
2) Ballpark price for testing/analysis?
3) Do they perform this type of analysis on transmission and distribution equipment regularly?
4) Client list.
5) Examples of equipment studied.
We have had no success in finding anybody so far and we are in UEGENT need of help.
Any help you can offer would be appreciated!!
THANKS!!!
