I am new in oil and gas company.Can somebody help me in how to select a material if we know the nominal size and pressure rating????
If in case it is 2 1/6 " and 3000psi????

You really need to explain what the hell you're talking about. With that size and pressure rating it sounds like a wellhead wing valve, but there is nothing about API wing valves that has "needle".

i am asking if we certain nominal size and rated working pressure .How we use API to do material selection of different parts????

Valve material should be selected according to service conditions such as temperature,Corrosiveو...
different material groups is mentioned in ASME B16.34 table1.
