Have a pleasant time,

I am trying to model a needle insertion process into a soft tissue by Abaqus software but I some problems in simulation. I have attached the video of the process. Can I use both cohesive and crack properties together? Is there any abaqus CAE example for this case? My model is 2 dimensional.
Is there anyone to help me?

Thanks in advance
Ali

Hi IceBreakerSours,

thank you for your advice,

Do you have any example which show how I can create it on Abaqus/CEL? or any other related example?

thanks in advance for your time,
Ali,

Hi IceBreakerSours,

I have seen abaqus documentation and I have simulated the indentation process by Abaqus standard as asymmetric and 2D solid homogeneous successfully but what I have problem with it, is insertion of needle into soft tissue . How can I simulate rupture of tissue? when the simulation reaches to rupture the tissue, Abaqus is abroad from the simulations. I have attached successful simulation of indentation process but what is difficult is insertion.

thank you for your comments and tips.

ammmir:

Indentation will not work.

Look at what sdebock suggested. Or, read the Coupled Eulerian-Langrangian (CEL) method and try the problems in the manuals that use this method.

Either way, it will require effort on your part. In all probability, you are not going to find an example that does exactly what you want. If you do not have experts around you, talk to Abaqus support.

Thank you for your good advice,

I tried to model a very simple soft tissue by Abaqus CEL. But after running the model, the simulation exited with an error:

" There is no element available in the model to control the stable time increment for Step 1. Please add a deformable element to control the stable time increment. Alternatively, you can use DIRECT TIME INCREMENTATION to perform the analysis at a user specified time increment.

Abaqus/Explicit Packager exited with an error - Please see the status file for possible error messages if the file exists. "

More description is as:

Part: 3D> Eulerian> Extruded solid
Property: Hyperelastic> Neo Hooke; Mass density> 9.97e-7
Assembly > dependent part
Step > Dynamic –explicit
Boundary condition> Bottom part of the part has been fixed in all directions.
Element type: explicit > linear > Eulerian -------> EC3D8R

This is a very simple model, but it does not work.
Is there any one to help me? I also attached a picture of the model.
