Dear mates,
I have to inspect externally Diesel horizontal TKs, the ones normally used for drilling companies, what should be the more appropriate criteria to be used, since they are neither API TKs nor PVs and not have ID plate??
Thanks in advance for any input you can have.

Use STI - Steel Tank Institute. Most appropriate inspection standard for non-API tanks, especially small or horizontal ones.

Also have with you an ultrasonic wall thickness tester and take your readings at the normal liquid line and at the bottom of the tanks. STI per Duwe6 is recognized by the US EPA as the entity that provides guidelines on tank testing on such tank that you mentioned. If they are shop built tanks try to get copies of the engineer's drawings so that you can review the adequacy of the joints and wall thicknesses. I would not be surprised if the Canadian jurisdiction has minimum requirements for such tanks. I live in Massachusetts and this State has such requirements in their CMR's, of course, this State has requirements for just about anything.
