I know there are multiple threads about creating ropes and wires and such, and in general, i've found that its often not worth the time. But I need to create a net for an illustration and I need to make it somewhat life-like, any ideas on how you guys would go about this?

I've started with a plane extrude and made it into criss-cross extrudes and played around with flex for awhile, looks sort of okay, but its pretty difficult to manipulate and is pretty processor intensive. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

yeh that would be nice but the problem is that I have to show pieces at the cross-ties of the lattice.
