Ok, I got one problem solved. Time to move on to my ever growing list. ; )
I have been charged with getting NX set up for when the rest of the designers here move from IDEAS to NX. I chose to do this by trying to set everything up on a network drive so things only have to be changed or added in one place. I've had varied success. I started this out by making a batch file that launches NX and points to my own env.dat file. I had also tried a Custom Directories file, but then realized (maybe incorrectly) that I could accomplish the same thing by adding environment variables to my batch file.
I'll have lots of questions once I really get back into this, but my Issue O' The Day today is palette files. How can I put the palette files I create in the network folder and have them load whenever anybody starts NX? I must have missed the env variable that points to palette locations because I couldn't find one. I have one for seed parts that I want to use, and my newest one is for drawing stuff like tables and notes.
I know that when I 'Save As Template' on a table that I've created it gets saved into the Template palette that got installed locally. When I tried to make my own palette and add the tables to it, I couldn't use the tables because they were the wrong format or something. So I decided to copy the default Template pax file and the template folder to the network drive, open the palette, and delete all of the templates I didn't want. That works ok, except that my tables don't have a preview image for them.
Now how do I point to these palettes from the batch file so they will get loaded by everyone? I'm fairly certain that it can be done this way. At my previous emplyer the system was set up this way. It was all done before I got there though and so I didn't have any insight into how it was accomplished.
