neutralise calcium peroxyde 2

Hi,

Do any of you guys knows what calcium peroxyde become after it has been neutralise by water and fire. Is it still a dangerous product?

Calcium Peroxide ends up as Calcium Hydroxide with water or Calcium Oxide if no water is present. It will react with reducing agents as an oxidizer.

Come back with a little more details as Calcium Hydroxide is not considered a hazardous chemical other than being an oxidizer.
It's used in bakery goods and oral hygiene products as an oxygen bleach.

Products can be dangerous in different ways and one way to find out the different hazards of a commercially available material is to review its Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).

We had a fire here, ivolving calcium peroxyde.
Now I guess, after the heat and water, only Ca(OH)2 is left

If there was a large amount of Calcium Peroxide involved make sure you keep a water spray on the material while cleaning up.

Can you give any details of the fire as Calcium Peroxide is relatively benign as it is shipped in Poly lined drums.

This would be a help to others who use the material and might become complacent.

The fire started in a machine. There was several pallets with calcium peroxide near by that burned with it. The whole section had been destroyed. Now, I must clean up this mess. I doubt we will need to spray water because of the large amount of water used by the fire fighter, and it rained several times since.
