Evening -
I am trying to find out what engineering changes are being adopted or discussed to address the new EPA rules concering CAFO's and AFO's (confined animal operations - such as hog/swine production). The new rules throw out the old 24 hour-25 year storm event, reducing manure and lagoon to "zero discharge levels" without treatment. We utilize a specific batch rotation treatment regime for in-pit manure nutrient reduction, but now looking for the best eay to handle lagoons, but do not know what the "engineering community" re-designs will look like and thus can't determine the simplest equipment design to fit most needs. Any guidelines or thoughts coming out if the engineering societies on this?
Thanx,
