I am a recent graduate from Cal Poly where I spent my time divided between class work and friends and I didn't realize the importance of networking, clubs, or internships. Now I find myself in a bit of a hole with regards to finding an entry-level job. I have a lot to learn about networking and the best way to find a job, so any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The university career development center is an excellent place to get help finding entry level engineering jobs. They have a lot of contacts, can coach you on your resume and interview skills, and also give you excellent references to the person who may be potentially interviewing you(so treat the people who work there good, if they like you they will be more willing to help you land a job). When a company seeks out a universtiy career center they know they are looking for an entry level person without any/little experience. I've found that going into interviews in the correct frame of mind helps a lot. Before you go for an interview do something to build your confidence(Read: "How to Win Friend and Influence People" by Dale Carnagie) and lay on the charm, even if you aren't ususally like that, you only have to convince them that you are charming until they give you a job.
