Good morning.
I have a project currently under construction and received elevator shop drawings for review. I had provided an single elevator hoist beam over two (2) elevator shafts with two (2) hoist loads simultaneously on the hoist beam on the design drawings. However, the elevator shop drawings stated that two (2) hoist beams are now required per a new OSHA requirement. The additional hoist beam would be running parallel to the beam I have already specified. I don't have a problem adding the second beam. I just want to know the new OSHA requirement. Unless I overlooked it, I can't find anything specific in 1926.552 or 1926.554. Thanks for any help locating this requirement.
