Sorry folks , I am new to this list , let me intoduce my self , My name is Stephen , I design bits for motorcyles in particular..Royal Enfields,
The problem I am having with Acad is that the background will not show through a hole in a rendered drawing ...It did then I possibly fiddled with something
I have installed acad 2002 and still the problem is there, for an example a 5mm thick spacer with a hole in the middle against a green background . I should seethe green through/ in the hole but all I get is a white circle....If I apply a material to it then it becomes ragged like shadow over a playing field....
If you rotate it the effect decreases, So I moved in the lights...to no avail,....even went as far as to buy the manual.....no luck

Any Ideas?? HELppppppp!!!

I have been saving the Bitmaps , and touching them up manually!!1

Thanks in advance

Stephen

Check to see if a circle remains somewhere around the opening. A circle will render as a closed filled object.

Thanks will do .....how would I remove the circle , or just insert a break??

I extuded both cirdles then subtracted the inner one...

thanks for that

If DELOBJ is set to 0 the original objects are retained after extrusion. Set it to 1 prior to extrusion and the original objects will be removed.

There are a couple of methods to get rid of the circles. One is the FILTER command. Another would be, if the solids are on a different layer than the circles, to turn off the layer of the soldids then erase the circles. Or enter ERASE select a fence and cross the solid and the circles, then enter R to remove and remove the solid from the delection set.

Hope that helps.

er... that would be
"then enter R to remove and remove the solid from the Selection set."

Hi there I really apreciate all this help...I tried everything that u suggested to no avail ..the delboj setting was 1 tr4ied both ways seems to be working but to no avail ...
please feel free if you have any more suggestions I am all ears,,
Regards
Stephen
I can Email a simple drg and if you can render the same drg then its my machine ....

Another problem may be that the inner cylinder was not quite aligned with the outer when subtracting. Try creating a new cylinder for the inner that extends beyond the outer a bit on both ends, and re-subtract. If that doesn't work, email the file and I'll take a look when I can.

When you want a hole thru an object, make sure that when you extrude in the circle, square or any other shape to extrude in the Z direction always and to a much greater depth than the object thru which you want to make a hole. That way you will definitely have a hole otherwise you may get something that may have a thin "skin" preventing you from seeing the background.

Hey thanks everyone...the last bit did it , I must have been getting a skin or something So I inserted some cylinders and resubtracted them....and bingo

I ts been me all a long..( I thought so but i didnt want to tell the computer that!!!)

Thank you once again Most helpful

From a happy little Stephen
