New versioning, testing and what's new docs.

So, NX 1847 and 1851 have been released. Does anyone know if every version is tested as rigorously as MR's or minimally as MP's.

I noticed there are docs for 1847 but not for 1851. Where can we get info as to what's new and fixed PR's?

When your light turns colors indicating an update is ready, you can choose to get the what's new at that time.

Thanks for the tip. I currently have 12.0.2 and an EAP version installed and plan to install 1847 in March. At this point I think I should hold off asking any more questions until I get it installed.

I think the automatic update is still a work in progress.

I cannot "go production" with it until my 3rd party translators catch up

Based on what I'm reading on the Siemens forums regarding the update for 1851, I would strongly recommend investigating what all is required and what has been problematic before going full production with 1847 and having a solid plan in place for how your facility will handle the update process. Customer default settings can affect the way the update to 1851 is handled, as well as each user's method of connecting to your network and the internet (issues with those using VPNs for example).

1851 is the monthly update for 1847. Something in between a Maintenance Pack and a Maintenance Release.
It might contain enhancements but might not.

Well, this might end up being a bit confusing with all the 1847 and 1851 terms but if you go to the Siemens URL below & look under the NX 1847 products, there are 2 links for the NX 1847 Monthy Update. The first is a PDF with general info about PRs and a list (1 item) of included ERs. The second link is the list of fixed PRs in .csv format (open with Excel).

I would have posted them here but not so sure Siemens desires things like that on a public forum.

Thank you for the info.

Do you all think it's safe to assume if there isn't any documentation for a release, it is purely a fix release? I still don't know if a release is thoroughly tested or not. I feel the new version system is somewhat a mess at the moment and could have been handled better. I need to know what exactly what is in a version before I install it or it isn't getting anywhere near my users.

My Conspiracy theory is that Siemens,
on purpose,
are naming the versions such that nobody except maybe the geeks can keep track of what version they are actually using ,
and when everybody has completely lost track of the version,
we will start speaking about "NX" without the version number.
And, when that happens,
they have succeded,
and will start numbering the versions logically....
