Hello,
I would like to take a minute of your time to discuss NFPA 79 - Testing and Verification. When performing a Hi-pot of IR test how many people bypass electrical components that are already UL or CE marked? I have been taught this way but I find that the majority of components in a control panel are bypassed, and therefore I am left just testing the wire of which by the way is either UL1015 or UL1007 depending on the voltage of the machine. If this is the case why not just test the field wiring going to other parts of the machine were there is the possibility that the wire insulation could get nicked when being run through a conduit?
Does anyone know of training regarding this part of the Standard? I have searched the internet and found nothing.
Regards.
