Hello:

Is there anyone can tell me how to electroplate nickel in stainless steel? Can anyone give me idea about the bath composition as well as the current setting?

Thx!

I suggest you should specify the application so that you get more number of answers. The size of the job, functional requirement and others.

I am not aware of the bath composition, but I can surely say that Electroless Nickel would be better if you can afford. Reason is normal Electroless nickel process will hold good. No special operation will be required. Maximum the time may differ.

Hello:

The only familiarity I have with nickel on stainless steel was for an elecroforming application (about 8 years ago). Stainless steel is very passive and our deposit used to fall off in the tank. The solution was a Woods nickel strike (very low pH). Another suggestion is a Sulfamate nickel strike. After a thin strike on the mandrel, we were able to successfuly electroform. Feel free to ask me for more information. Take care.
