Morning. Yesterday for no apparent reason, anything I cut with nitro was cutting horrible in spots. I changed the nozzle, realigned it, changed gas bottles, try both 5 & 7.5 in lenses. SS, crs, galv & alum all cut worse than normal. As you can see from the pictures it's not good. Didn't change any settings. Anything cut with oxy is cutting fine. Any thing else I can try? Thanks.

THOSE PICS the material is not cut with nitrogen edge color is wrong for n2 cut edge should be silver not black.

I can assure you they where cut with nitro. It's the angle that makes them appear that way.

Do you have another N2 source you can try (different bottle or dewar)? Perhaps your N2 source is contaminated. I'm assuming where you said you changed gas bottles you're referring to the lasing gas (CO2 mix)

I changed the N2 source bottle. I changed the laser gas last week. I just ran a focus test which seemed to be off. Changed the focus, double checked alignment but still cutting bad. I just tried changing the ceramic cup and it started giving me a z sensor alarm.

It just looks like too little power. O2 would work OK because it adds energy; N2 takes away.

Well we cut some cold rolled with nitro so we don't have to clean off the edges. Some customers have told us the powder coating was coming of the edges. The galv we need to cut 1600 parts and we can cut it faster with N2.

There may have been something with the z sensor wire. I started getting wire break alarms and calibration failures. We had an extra wire so I replaced it and some of the other parts on the head. Restarted the machine and the wire break alarm went away but still wouldn't calibrate head. The adjust hs sensor and a nozzle cleaning wouldn't do it. I finally tried to cut some parts and it worked great. Went to do a nozzle cleaning and calibrated itself just fine and now I'm cutting again. Don't really know why it was cutting bad but it's ok now.
